Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol Teaser Trailer

This movie isn't exactly comic/genre related but the trailer is cool none the less.  The Mission: Impossible franchise has has it's share of critics but overall the franchise has been fun and highly successful.  This new entry is being directed by Brad Bird who is best known for his animation work on The Iron Giant and The Incredibles.  Jeremy Renner has been added to the cast and once again Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt has to clear his name.  Sounds like a Mission: Impossible!

International Captain America Poster

This poster is being used overseas for Captain America: The First Avenger.  The Red Skull in the background is a nice touch on an overall decent poster!   Captain America: The First Avenger hits theaters on July 22nd!

Masters Of The Universe Movie Still On The Way

He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe is one of the most popular 80's franchises of all time.  Dolph Lundren starred in a ridiculously cheesy film in the 80's called Masters Of The Universe in which he starred as He-Man.  A new film has been rumored for years and according to Sony it's still on the way.  Sony vice president DeVon Franlin has offered an update recently saying the following: "One of other things I'm really excited about is we're doing a reboot of the 1980s franchise Masters of the Universe. The He-Man franchise. Very excited about that. Should have that script very soon. I'm praying that we can start figuring out how we're going to make it."  The Comicpalooza Blog will keep you posted on the latest on this film!

300 Prequel Gets A New Title

300 was a monster hit based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller.  The film was ass kicking fun and most people liked it.  It should probably be left alone but like everything now days in Hollywood, if it's successful they want more.  Frank Miller is currently working on Xerces, the prequel graphic novel to 300.  The film will have a different title though, 300: Battle For Artemisia.  Zach Snyder is still on as a producer but with him busy with Superman: The Man Of Steel the directing reigns will be handed to either Noam Nurro or Juam Collet-Serra.  Who the hell are they you ask?  I asked the same question.  We will see how this turns out or if even sees the light of day.

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes Intelligence Test Viral Video & German Trailer

Viral marketing is a very common promotion in movie marketing in today's age.  Some studios use it well and others don't.  So far 20th Century Fox's viral marketing for Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes has been very cool and here is another video to promote the film along with the new German trailer just below it.

First Look At The Female Ghost Rider

Marvel is reintroducing Ghost Rider again.  The character is cool but has never seemed to work well on his own.  he's better as a supporting character, or maybe it's just no one knows how to write the character properly.  Well with a new Ghost Rider film coming to theaters next year, Marvel is rebooting it again. Starting in June with a Point One issue, followed by a proper #1 in July — will feature a new character wielding the mantle of the Spirit of Vengeance, and this time it's a female, as revealed during Marvel's "Next Big Thing" conference call with the press Thursday.

Johnny Blaze will work with the new Ghost Rider, who is a character completely new to the Marvel Universe with no prior connection to Johnny Blaze.

New Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes Images

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes continues to have it's buzz grow every day it seems.  Now three new images have been released showing off the highly impressive computer generated imagery of the main ape, Cesar.  The film is a prequel/reboot of the original franchise from the 1960's and 70's.  It has nothing to do with the  Tim Burton film and looks to be a refreshing and nice new start for the series from the look at the first couple of trailers.  The film hits theaters August 5th!

The Immortals Have Posters

Immortals looks like a bad ass movie.  There is no doubt about that from the first trailer, now it's just wait and see if it's any good.  It stars Mickey Rourke, Steven Dorff, and the guy who will be playing Superman in the new film next year, Henry Cavill.  These eight character posters from the film have just hit and they are pretty bad ass too.  The film hits theaters November 11tth of this year.

In case you haven't seen the first trailer it is embedded below the posters!

New Planet Of The Apes Comic Series Is A Huge Hit

The new Planet Of The Apes comic series from Boom Studios has been a surprise hit.  Most comic book stores have sold out of it and why?  The book is actually pretty  good.  It's in continuity with the original movie series and the buzz around the upcoming Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes is probably helping it too.  Well Boom Studios wants readers to get caught up on the series and they don't want you to pay a fortune.  They will be releasing the first trade paperback with issues #1 - 4 on August 3rd for just 10 bucks and not only that, issue #5 of the series will ship the same day for just $1 dollar.  Not a bad deal to get caught up on a good comic series and that weekend after, the new film will hit theaters and Apes Will Rise!!

Green Lantern The Animated Series Trailer

Green Lantern hit theaters this past weekend, and I for one enjoyed the heck out of it.  Critics may not have liked it and fans seemed to be mixed on it but ah well, I dug it and thought it was cool.  Now Warner Brothers Animation and The Cartoon Network are bringing us Green Lantern The Animated Series.  It's expected to premier this Fall with a 6 episode mini series then debut as a full series sometime in 2012.  The first trailer is below for your viewing pleasure.

The Wolverine Has A Director

The Wolverine has been searching for a director for a few months after Daren Aronofsky dropped off the film.  now it seems they have found one in the form of James Mangold.  he is best known for the films Walk The Line, 3:10 To Yuma and recently made the mediocre Knight And Day.  No production date is started but the film is still apparently on track for a 2012 release date.

Trailer Park: The 90's Batman Films Part 1 - Batman (1989)

Trailer Park returns spotlighting the 1980's/90'sBatman series.  This will be a series of four editions as we look back at the original four Batman films.  It starts with one of the most classic comic book movies of all time, Tim Burton's Batman.  Most people either love or hate this movie, but most have fond memories of it.  For many of us, it was the first "real" comic book movie we ever had.  We stood in line for hours to go see it, we were amazed at just seeing Batman and Joker on screen and most of us own it in some form for home entertainment.  The marketing for the film as far as posters goes was very simple.  It featured the gold Batman logo as the a teaser poster and the final poster simply added the credits.  You can see the teaser to the left and the final poster below.  The trailers are typical 1980's style trailers making sure you know who the stars of the film are, and that it would feature a real live action Batman film!
The film was of course a huge success at the box office and went on to spawn three sequels.  Batman Returns was received well also as was Batman Forever.  the fourth and final film in the "first" Batman series of films, Batman & Robin, is forgettable in almost every way.   As forgettable as the fourth film is, it will still be featured in this Trailer Park series.  Painful I know, but we will allg et through it together! Christoper Nolan is currently filming his conclusion to the "second" series of Batman films with The Dark Knight Rises next summer.  Nolan's films may be far superior to the 1980's/90's Batman films, but they hold a special place for most fans and will always be remembered in the hearts of those fans for years to come!  Enjoy the classic trailers for the film and look for part two featuring Batman Returns soon.

Star Wars Television Show At Least Still 3 Years Away

A few years ago when The Clone Wars animated series started, George Lucas also said that a live action television show would be on the air soon.  Well a few years have gone by and not much word on it.    The Czech Position got a hold of producer Rick McCallum and here's what he had to say: McCallum was asked whether the Czech capital was in the running for the series. "Oh, absolutely. This would be one of the primary places because of the talent," he said. McCallum produced Lucasfilm's upcoming Red Tails, which was also shot in the Czech Republic.

"The TV series is on hold, but that has nothing to do with the Czech Republic; it has to do with [the episodes being] so ambitious," he added. "We have 50 hours of third-draft scripts, but the problem we have is there is a lot of digital animation; we don't have the technology yet to be able to do them at a price that is safe for television. Since we would be financing them, it would be suicide for us to do this [now]. So we are going to wait three or four years."

Still, the "Star Wars" TV series may never see the light of day, McCallum mentioned. "Network television and cable television as we know it are completely imploding, so we're not really sure that in five years' time we can release a dramatic one-hour episode because it is all reality TV now."

The producer also revealed the basic storyline of the scripts. "It takes place between episodes three and four, when Luke Skywalker was growing up as a teenager, but it has nothing to do with Luke... Basically, it is like 'The Godfather'; it's the Empire slowly building up its power base around the galaxy, what happens in Coruscant, which is the major capital, and it's [about] a group of underground bosses who live there and control drugs, prostitution."

So the television show may happen or it may not happen according to Rick McCallum.  And isn't Mr. Lucas richer that most people.  How the heck can he not afford to make his own show about his own property?  Not to mention he owns the greatest sound and special effects companies in the world.  The Comicpalooza Blog will keep you posted on further developments!

Awesome Retro Captain America Poster
