Trailer Park: The 90's Batman Films Part 3 - Batman Forever (1995)

Welcome to Trailer Park!  When last I left you we were taking a look at the 90's Batman films.  Trailer Park, if you don't know, takes a look back at classic or not so classic films by showing off their movie posters, and trailers for the film!  With the third chapter in the Batman franchise, Tim Burton would depart as director and Joel Schumacher was in.  Batman Forever was the title and the very cool poster tot he left might be the coolest thing about the film.  The film series would take a much noticeable change in looks with a more "comic book" approach, meaning a bit more campy and silly.  Michael Keaton was out as Batman and Val Kilmer was in.  Mega star Jim Carrey was added as the Batman nemesis Riddler along with Tommy Lee Jones as Harvey Dent/Two-Face.  Robin would be introduced to the series also and was played by Chris O'Donnell, which might be the only saving grace of the film.  Yes the film is pretty bad.  Back in 1995 a lot of us liked it, but that was before Christopher Nolan showed us how it was done.  Or maybe you never liked the film, either way it was a huge hit at the box office and led to the fourth and most awful film in the franchise, Batman & Robin, which will be featured in the next Trailer Park.
Marketing for the film would again use character posters highlighting the heroes and villains of the story.  The film would open during the summer blockbuster season and would also feature a highly popular soundtrack with a hit single from artist Seal.  Problems apparently occur ed often on set, mostly due to Val Kilmer being a not so nice guy to work with, and high production costs to get the film done on time.  The overall product is by no means the worst comic book movie ever made, but it's not that great either.  The film has some nice moments, and at the time it was all we had until Mr. Nolan came along!  Check out more posters below and trailers for Batman Forever!

 28 Days Later (2002)

Synopsis: Four weeks after a mysterious, incurable virus spreads throughout the UK, a handful of survivors try to find sanctuary.

Released June 27, 2003 in the U.S.
Director: Danny Boyle
Domestic Box Office Gross:$45 Million
Running Time: 1 Hour 43 Minutes
Starring Cillian Murphy

Why You Should Watch It: Before Danny Boyle was an Oscar winning director, he made this visual sci-fi horror film starring a young Cillian Murphy.  The movie took the idea of "zombie" survival and modernized it using the idea of a virus to cause the horror.  And horror it did cause, as this movie scared the hell out of people when it was released.

The Goon Test Footage

The Goon creator Eric Powell has posted this early test footage for the movie that is voiced by Clancy Brown and Paul Giamatti.

Based on the cult comic from Dark Horse Entertainment, the comic follows the adventures of a muscle-bound brawler who claims to be the primary enforcer for a feared mobster. The stories have a paranormal and comedic edge to them and concern ghosts, zombies, mad scientists and "skunk apes."

The film, which has David Fincher attached to produce, is still looking for funding.

There Can Be Only One! Or Not!

Highlander has a huge fan following amongst geek circles, even if it is a rather silly fantasy driven concept.  (This geek is counted amongst those fans.) The first movie is a cult classic, the two sequels were terrible, then there was the television show.  The show was good and fun and it's how many people came to know Highlander and its mythology. The show also spawned  two spinoff movies.  One was ok, the other might be one of the worst films ever made.  Now Highlander is getting the remake treatment.  Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Days Later) has signed on to direct the film with Justin Lin (Fast Five) producing.  No word on casting or when production begins yet but we do know that heads will roll and the film will claim that there can be only one.

Leonidis & His Queen in 300 Prequel?

Producer Bernie Goldmann recently spoke with movies.com about the upcoming 300 prequel, 300: Battle For Artemisia.  He spoke about weather Gerad Butler and Lena Heady, who played King Leonidas and Queen Gorgo respectively, would be in the film.

When asked he said the following: “It’s a different story," he said. "[However] there’s a small part for Lena [Headey]. There’s a small part for Gerry [Butler].”

The film is based on Frank Miller's upcoming graphic novel prequel to 300, and is believed to take place 10 years or so before the first one, as Xerces rises to power.

The Walking Dead Season 2 Gets A 90 Minute Premiere

The Walking Dead returns October 16th and season 2 will of course be a full season of 12 episodes.  The bad news is, AMC has decided to split it into two parts.  Six episodes in October, then the final six  to begin airing in February.  It's not so bad really, it will just be a shorter wait until season 3, and with that AMC announced that the premiere will be 90 minutes long!
