The Hobbit Is Now Three FIlms
Peter Jackson released this statement today announcing that The Hobbit will become three films. The newly added third film is due in 2014.
It is only at the end of a shoot that you finally get the chance to sit down and have a look at the film you have made. Recently Fran, Phil and I did just this when we watched for the first time an early cut of the first movie – and a large chunk of the second. We were really pleased with the way the story was coming together, in particular, the strength of the characters and the cast who have brought them to life. All of which gave rise to a simple question: do we take this chance to tell more of the tale? And the answer from our perspective as the filmmakers, and as fans, was an unreserved ‘yes.’
We know how much of the story of Bilbo Baggins, the Wizard Gandalf, the Dwarves of Erebor, the rise of the Necromancer, and the Battle of Dol Guldur will remain untold if we do not take this chance. The richness of the story of The Hobbit, as well as some of the related material in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings, allows us to tell the full story of the adventures of Bilbo Baggins and the part he played in the sometimes dangerous, but at all times exciting, history of Middle-earth.
So, without further ado and on behalf of New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Wingnut Films, and the entire cast and crew of “The Hobbit” films, I’d like to announce that two films will become three.
It has been an unexpected journey indeed, and in the words of Professor Tolkien himself, ”a tale that grew in the telling.”
Cheers,
Peter J.

The Hobbit Trilogy?
At Comic-Con a rumor was swirling that Warner Brothers was going to turn Peter Jackson's two film adaption of The Hobbit
into three films. Peter Jackson shot down the idea and said it was
more likely that they would include additional footage on the extended
editions of the films on home video. Now it seems though they may
really be considering a third film. Apparently Jackson has shot enough
film for almost three movies. Almost means that some additional
shooting would be required next spring in order to fill in what footage
is needed to turn the two films into three. It's likely this will
happen because Warner Brothers won't turn down the opportunity to make
even more money now would they?!

Man Of Steel Teaser Trailer
Yahoo has brought us the debut of the teaser trailer for Man Of Steel.
Kevin Costner, who plays Jonathan Kent, narrates the trailer. In some
versions of the trailer Russel Crowe, who plays Jo-El, Superman's
Kryptonian Father does the narration. The words each speak are this:
Jonathan Kent: You're not just anyone. One day, you're going to have to make a choice. You have to decide what kind of man you want to grow up to be. Whoever that man is, good character or bad, is going to change the world.
Jor-El: You will give the people an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.
Man Of Steel flies into theaters June 14, 2013.

Thomas Jane Returns As The Punisher (For A Short Film At Least)
Let's face it, none of The Punisher films have been that good,
but Thomas Jane was easily the best actor in the role. Now he has
returned to the role in a short "fan" film that he put together and showed at Comic-Con along
with Ron Perlman titled "Dirty Laundry".
"I wanted to make a fan film for a character I've always loved and believed in - a love letter to Frank Castle & his fans. It was an incredible experience with everyone on the project throwing in their time just for the fun of it. It's been a blast to be a part of from start to finish -- we hope the friends of Frank enjoy watching it as much as we did making it." -- Thomas Jane
Enjoy the film below and let's hope that when Marvel does make another Punisher film that they bring him back for the role.
The film is fairly violent so beware to our younger readers.

Del Toro Inspired To Make Hellboy 3
A story broke last week in which a six-year old who is
battling leukemia made a request for his
Make-A-Wish that Hellboy come and visit him. The boy was a huge fan of the films and Perlman donned the costume
once again and made a very sick child quite happy. That boys wish came
true, but it also had another effect. Guillermo del Toro, director of the first two Hellboy films, says the
event was also a factor in helping to bring himself and Perlman
together on making a third Hellboy. “I’ve encountered a lot of kids who
are fans of the movies,” said del Toro, “but to hear the story of this
kid who was watching the movies while going through treatment, it really
just moved me a lot.” The director wants everyone to know that he hasn’t yet
approached Hellboy creator Mike Mignola on the idea of a Hellboy
III, and no studio is signed on yet. However, he says, “We’re going to make
an effort to do it. I hope it happens.”
