Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes Sequel On The Way
Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes was one of the big surprises of 2011 and now, 20th Century Fox has officially given the sequel a green light for a hopeful 2014 release. Fox CEO Tom Rothman had this to say about the sequel: "That’s
very much on the tracks. We’re developing a script. Rupert Wyatt, who
directed the first one, will direct the second one. We’re pushing
forward aggressively, so the script’s being written now." Rothman also went on to confirm a possible 2014 release date for the film: "Yeah, I think
it would make sense if we can, you know we serve no wine before it’s
time, but the goal for us would be summer of 2014, if that’s possible."
In an interview with MTV Rothman had even more to say about the film: "I think one of the big questions they're wrestling with now, which is kind of the fun, is how far forward do we skip?" Rothman said. "When does it start? Does it start the next day? The next year? Does it start in 10 years? Does it start in 50 years?"
"The script for that 'Apes' film was fantastic," Rothman explained. "We had the script for 10 years, and I always knew it was one of the best scripts. I just didn't think it was possible to do it. I thought it couldn't be done. We've got to have a great script. Because now, having made that good a movie, we better make the next one better."
Rothman also confirmed that Andy Serkis will return for the sequel to be motion captured once again. The untitled sequel to Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes will be in theaters in 2014.

First Official Look At Django Unchained
Information on Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained has been
scarce, but finally two official stills have been released for the
film. Jamie Foxx has also been talking about the movie and whether or
not he thinks the film will be controversial, and he had this to say: "Oh,
hell yeah. You kidding me? There's a beautiful way [Quentin Tarantino]
found for the characters to talk to each other. It's mindblowing.
You've never heard it this way. You've seen movies deal with slavery -
or westerns that never dealt with slavery - do it the safe way. This way
is like ... wow. Christoph's
character is a little aloof to what slavery actually is. He's not
familiar with everything, and when he sees atrocities, it's Greek to
him. But Django lets him know this is the way the world is and we got to
get used to it. He teaches Django certain things he needs to become a
whole man, and [Django] also teaches Christoph that when life deals you
these cards, here's what you've got to do. All Django wants to do is get
his wife. He's not trying to cure or solve slavery. He just wants to
get his life back."
Django Unchained opens on Christmas Day.

The Making Of Masters Of The Universe
he original Masters of The Universe film really isn't that good
but at the same time it holds a special place with geeks everywhere like
other such cheesy classic films from that era. Recently work was being
done on a 25th Anniversary DVD set that has since been cancelled. This
video is from a new "making of" documentary of the film that would have
been included as an extra on the DVD. It is expected to be included, at least in part, in a new documentary called Toy Masters.

DC's New 52 To Release Zero Issues In September
This September
will mark the one year anniversary of DC Comics' "The New 52" relaunch,
and apparently the company is planning something special. Bleeding Cool
has learned that for September, all 52 comic books will be numbered #0
instead of #13 (which will run in October). The zero issues will act as
prequels to the first issues of their respective series, consisting of
flashbacks, origins, etc. Instead of one month later, for example, it's
more like five years earlier. Says Bleeding Cool, "This might be the
perfect opportunity, say, in Batgirl to show what happened in South
Africa. Justice League to show disparate superheroes working a case, but
who never meet. Batman, to see where the Owls were the night that the
Waynes were murdered. Stuff like that." Additionally, the site notes that there may be "some creator credit surprises" for these issues.

Star Trek 2 Set Photo Is Volcanic
This new set image from the now filming Star Trek sequel features actor
Zachary Quinto who plays Spock, dangling in a Volcano Suit. The image
came with this blurb via MTV News. "After first rehearsing the scene with a Spock Stunt Double Actor
Zachary Quinto was then rigged to a wire in front of a large green
screen and lifted to a height of 10 stories high then dropped at a high
rate of speed as if he was falling. In the scene Spock is wearing a
“Volcano Suit” and carrying an unknown piece of equipment with the
Starfleet Emblem. A Volcano is somehow involved in this scene. The crew
had a real fire burning off camera to catch the fire reflections on
Spock’s “Volcano Suit”. Star Trek 2 is due in theaters in May 2013.

The Dark Knight Rises Covered By Entertainment Weekly
he latest issue of Entertainment Weekly features The Dark Knight Rises
on their cover for their summer movie preview. In the issue Tom Hardy
speaks about Bane's mumbly voice that people are concerned about being
able to hear properly in the final film: “It’s a
risk, because we could be laughed at — or it could be very fresh and
exciting,” says Hardy, adding that the voice he developed was influenced
by many factors, including a desire to honor the comic book character’s
brains and Caribbean heritage. “The audience mustn’t be too concerned
about the mumbly voice,” says Hardy. “As the film progresses, I think
you’ll be able to tune to its setting.” The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters in July!

Game Of Thrones Renewed For Season 3
The very popular and amazingly good Game Of Thrones has
officially been renewed for a 3rd season. The 3rd season is expected to
adapt the third book in George R.R. Martin's epic saga, A Song Of Fire And Ice, titled A Storm Of Swords.
The story told in this book is so massive and important however, that
it is expected to be told over the course of two seasons of the show,
assuming it gets to season four, which looks like an almost sure thing!
Season 2 of Game Of Thrones is currently airing on HBO.

The new version of Total Recall is hitting theaters in August. I won't call this a remake because it looks to be based on the original
short story that the original film was only loosely based on. Either
way, it actually looks very cool!
