Y: The Last Man Has A Director

Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier recently sat down with MTV News and confirmed he wants to make Y: The Last Man into a movie or possibly a television show.
"I'm surprised that it hasn't gotten made yet," Leterrier said. "The first time I read it, I was in France and doing my little movies, and I didn't think I would ever have access to these kinds of movies. Midway through Clash of the Titans, I was like, 'What's going on with 'Y The Last Man'?' I called one of the producers and asked what was going on, and he said it was available. I said, 'Let's go!'"

"D.J. Caruso was supposed to do it with Shia LaBeouf, and that sort of went on and was over, so I went in and said, 'Please, please let me have it!'" he explained.

"It's kind of stuck somewhere now," said the filmmaker. "I still want to do it. I'm passionate about it. But it's stuck. People don't know what to do with it. I'd love to do it, but I need people to finance it, and the people financing it don't know if it's a TV show a movie, or what it should be. It could play as a movie, but it would be very interesting as a TV show," he said. "[It wouldn't work as] one large film, no. I'd love to do it as a TV show or a three-part series."

"I like the idea of a TV show," he continued. "You take time to get to know your characters. You can introduce a lot of characters. You don't need your three-action set pieces that you usually need for movies. Frankly, with HBO and Showtime and cable shows, the DVD box sets and all, you can have a product that doesn't make you feel like as soon as it's projected, it's thrown away. It's really a piece of art."

This has got to be a television show to do it proper justice I believe.  Can it be done as a film?  Ya but not one movie, it would  have to be a trilogy.  The story is complex and deeply emotional and one of the best comic book series I have ever read.  A two hour film just would not do the story justice.  It sounds like Leterrier knows this, so let's hope iof this gets made it's made well and stands true to the comic series.

Trailer Park: Superman II

Welcome to Trailer Park, a brand new feature at the Official Blog Of Comicpalooza!  What is Trailer Park?  Well many of us enjoy seeing the trailers at movies so we know what is coming soon to look forward too.  People have even gone to the movies just to see a trailer like back in 1998 when people went to see Meet Joe Black just to get a glimpse at a small film called Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace. So with Trailer Park, from time to time, I will highlight a classic film and show off it's original trailer or trailers, and some poster art from the movie.  Enjoy!

Superman II

Hobo With A Poster

Why not right?  The Grindhouse double feature from Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarentino was a lot of fun.  Machete was a lot of fun.  There are rumors that Eli Roth is considering making Thanksgiving into a full film.  So why not Hobo With A Shotgun?  Oh wait, it is a film coming next year and here's the poster!

The V.G.F. Report

Video Game Friday is back!  This may become an every other week column with industry news a bit slow right now since it's all about the new holiday releases.  but have no fear, any big video game news will always be found here!  So a little game called Call Of Duty Black Ops comes out next week.  You may have heard of it and well before it even gets released, Activision confirmed that the next COD game is already on schedule for Fall 2011! You can view the launch trailer for Black Ops below!

XBox Kinect

The Kinect launched yesterday, with Microsoft expecting to sell 5 million units by Christmas.  Seems a bit high because I have a lot of friends that play Xbox and none of them plan on getting it.  The 150 dollar price point for a add on is a bit steep for some people.  The technology is very cool and it should do well as more games come out for it in the future!

What If Superman Returns II Happened?

The Superman franchise is of course moving on with Zach Snyder directing.  But in a recent interview screenwriter Michael Dougherty said has revealed details in what would have been seen in a sequel to Superman Returns if he and Bryan Singer had made it.

Promising first and foremost that the sequel would have been action heavy, Dougherty explained that it would have revolved around a group of Kryptonians who come to Earth and, while they wouldn't have been outright evil a la General Zod, they would have challenged Superman's views of his role on Earth.

"Brainiac was always intersting," Dougherty also teased, regarding what classic Superman villains he would have included in the screenplay.

The Trick 'r Treat director also offered some hope for fans who would like to see Brandon Routh again don the cape and tights, though admits that he doesn't have any specific insider knowledge.

“I’m sure they’ll talk," he said, referring to the upcoming Warner Bros. production, "... at least I’d like to think so”.
